Age Scotland

Provides information and advice to help older people understand their rights, make informed choices and access appropriate support. Information and advice on benefits, care and support, health and wellbeing, dementia, legal and family issues, money matters, housing and energy. Age Scotland Helpline and Friendship line 0800 12 44 222 Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

A Christian charity that works through a network of local churches across the UK to give free help to anyone in debt. In addition to free debt help, there are job clubs, help to overcome a habit or dependency (release groups) and CAP Money Courses.

Citizens Advice Scotland's Money Map

Sources of online support to: Immediate and essential money problems (Benefits and tax credits, Council Tax, Housing costs, Energy costs), making the most of your money (Utilities and switching, budgeting, banking, general savings tips, taz cod and wages)

Council Tax

UK government website that provides information on working out: your Council Tax, who has to pay, discounts for full-time students, discounts for disabled people, second homes and empty properties, paying your bill).

Debt Advice Foundation

A registered national debt advice and education charity offering free, confidential support and advice to anyone worried about loans, credit and debt. 

Get Safe Online

Provides advice on how to protect yourself, your computers and mobiles device and your business against fraud, identity theft, viruses and many other problems encountered online. Topics including passwords, oversharing, cyberbullying, online dating and online gambling.

Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG)

Help and information for those least able in the community to afford to pay for advice and understanding of the systems of taxation and related benefits. Email available through website.

Provides facility to find a local, free money advice agency, debt advice, advice on consumer issues and mortgage advice.

Money and Mental Health Policy Institute 

Independent charity, committed to breaking the link between financial difficulty and mental health problems. Conduct research, develop practical policy solutions and work in partnership with both those providing services and those using them to find what really works. Highlights where help can be found for mental health, money and support during Covid-19 outbreak.

National Cyber Security Centre NCSC

Provides advice to protect you and your family, and the technology you rely on to stay safe online when banking, shopping, streaming and social media. Including advice on common cyber issues such as dealing with suspicious emails, to being hacked, having your username and password stolen. 

StepChange Debt Charity

Free confidential advice and support for those with debt problems. Email available through website. Previously known as Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS)

The Bridge

The Bridge Community Project located in Livingston seeks to improve the everyday wellbeing of the people of West Lothian by providing practical and relational suppor, including: Counselling Services, Financial Wellbeing and Stepping Stones to Wellbeing - exploring and learning about topics such as: mental wellbeing; the impact of bereavement and loss; practical skills for life.

The Money Charity

National money education charity helping people manage their money better. Develop and deliver products and services which provide education, information and advice on money matters in an appropriate way for young people and adults including: everyday money, saving, debt, financial products, planning, students.

West Lothian Credit Union

A credit union is a not for profit organisation offering financial services in the form of savings accounts for adults and juniors, affordable loans, free bereavement benefit on savings and loans, prepaid debit card, funeral plans, free Wills Service and half price power of attorney.

West Lothian Financial Inclusion Network

West Lothian Financial Inclusion Network is a SCIO registered charity which aims to ensure that all West Lothian residents are aware of their financial choices and promotes access to financial advice, financial products and other services, particularly for the most excluded social groups.
